One of the great ironies that accompanies life as a writer is that there is unrelenting pressure to keep focusing attention on numbers more than words.
Amazon rankings…sales figures…advances…royalty percentages…
Sometimes, those numbers are enjoyable to savor and ponder. But often they become albatrosses, especially if we start using them to measure ourselves against other writers or to help us determine our own worth as a writer.
